Interesting comments you added above. It’s fun to see how some players have developed their own “code” for what they feel is honourable and what is not.
I avoid guarding the edges too (in most cases) as it feels a bit unfair. It happens to me a lot on levels like Ice Breaker. It’s not such a problem on Ichiban as you can hang on the side and hope the opponent is distracted by another attack (and no spectator hits you with a fish), but on a level like Ice Breaker, you have no choice but to climb out before you freeze and hope you get lucky and are not hit by your opponent. Sometimes a quick roll as soon as you’re out of the water is enough. I once saw someone kick from out of the water, but haven’t been able to do that yet. I suspect that requires you to time the kick with your upward momentum as you attempt to climb out. I must practice that.
Having said that, I will do it if someone keeps doing it to me - just to show them what it feels like. I will happily get revenge if I feel it’s deserved.
I’ve met some great players though, that will help me up out of the water on levels like Ice Breaker. It’s a rare thing, but something I appreciate. Of course, I often get a beat-down from them about 15 seconds later, but the gesture is still appreciated!
It’s worth saying also that guarding anywhere is something I avoid generally. I won’t knock someone down and then stand over them, hitting them every time they get up until they’re dead. BUT, if I notice later that they’re playing dead and I have the nunchucks, then I will give them another crack.
Watching a video of you with the crossbow on Ice Breaker I thought you were ruthless. But, given your comments above on how you view the crossbow and its uses, maybe I was wrong?
Something I dislike is players hiding and not getting involved in the fight. I see this a lot on Ichiban, where they climb to the top and wait for almost everyone else to die before getting involved. It sometimes happens on Ice Breaker too, where they wait on a piece of ice at the side of the map. If I’m a spectator at this point, then I’ll always go for them with a fish. On the next round, I also immediately go for them. I’ve seen a lot of people win by just waiting until the end.
I’m curious. What are the honour codes for other players on here? Are you ruthless and will win in whatever way possible or are there lines you won’t cross? Maybe that should be a separate thread.
