Limto One biggest piece of advice I could give to someone leaving high school into the real world. You might forget it by the time it happens. But I see so many people come from high school and into my trade. They think the way you get respect and to be liked is the same in high school. My advice is its not. In high school for example, sitting back in gym class and being cool and saying whatever is the way in. In the real world it's the exact opposite, especially when you have no rank in anything. I see many recent graduates sit back with the rest of the boys with 10 years experience under their belt and bark at people and think theyre in. The boys with experience who earned their right to be on top will straighten them out and sometimes its not nice. This one 18 year old on my site has had his hard hat filled with water and thrown in the freezer over night, has had his laces taken out of his boots and missing, gets told to scrub floors etc. Where as there's another 19 year old who gets all the good work and everyone loves him. The difference is the 19 year old puts his head down and listens and works, tries to learn from everyone, and is very respectful towards others. The other tries to play pranks back and he doesn't know it will continue until he's obedient and they won't tell him that.
Long story short. Enjoy high school while it lasts. But just know its so different from the real world and its going to take a while to rewire your brain after years in high school.
