you also seem interested in rather attacking others and defending what you find "fun" instead of trying to understand the opposite side when it comes to topics you don't agree with , and going from there instead for a healthier discussion.
I wasn't attacking others. The only place in this entire thread where you could argue that I was in any way attacking anyone, was the fun comment I said above which I apologized for.
After that point, I have been ganged up on in this entire thread, and have spent the entire time on the defense. You may seem fit to want the argument to end, but of course you do, because you're the last one to have their words put out there.
Any time I ever disagree with nerfing weapons, you and others seem to think I'm not supposed to disagree with that, and you think you can use that as ammunition in an argument with me, saying that I never agree with others.
I agree with others all the time.
But when I do disagree with something, I say what my reasons for disagreeing are, but when it comes to nerfing weapons, I can say my reasons for disagreeing, but then a few days later a new topic on nerfing weapons is created! It's spam. Do you expect me to just shut up and accept it after it's posted the 4th or 5th time? Was I supposed to reach a point where I should just give up and let people have their voice heard on doing things to the game that I disagree with, because they made 5 topics about it? Sounds like I should just argue and disagree once or twice, and then give up, right?
That's a wonderful list, but just because you agreed with the people doesn't take away from the points I had mentioned. Especially if those topics can be summarized as "additional content" and that is not the same category as "changing the game's mechanics".
Some of those topics were not additional content. Some of them were reconsiderations of mechanics. Just not the fighting mechanics. They were reconsiderations of other mechanics, however. There were a few others but I don't have the links.
Why do you and PurePeppermintz throw out accusations at me and say that I'm a contrarian, when it's so easy to prove that as being false? Why do I constantly have to go on the defense? Why do you and her and others feel the need to gang up on me, and treat me poorly?
I could ask you the same thing given your message history and your defense of what was intended. My vision about the game's design comes from the way the developers carried it across, yours too, I reckon. That's how I expect to at least get an idea of what they were going for. Neither you, nor I will be correct in our guesses until the developer comes forward and confirms either side.
I never made any claim as to what the developer intended, so whether or not I believe one thing or the other has no bearing on this argument. Your side claimed that such things are bugs, with the reason being that they were unintended by the developer. I merely stated that you don't know the intention of the developer (I don't either, sure), and also that just because something wasn't originally intended, doesn't mean it might not be considered a "happy accident". Not everything has to be intentional. Sometimes, magic just happens.
and making sure you include yourself in every topic you disagree with so the developers can hear you better?
What is wrong with that? Again, so if I see the same topic spammed for the 5th or 6th time, I'm supposed to just let it go at that point?
It's very convenient to label everything "nerfs", quoting the standardization, baselining or removing the fun.
That's what they are. That's what people in this thread have been spamming the forum about over the last month. Seems like every few days a new thread pops up NERF THE SHOVEL!!! NERF THE NUNCHUCKS!!!
I'm just supposed to chill and be like yeah whatever I don't want to argue anymore but you guys can keep going???
You have to understand that people complaining about 1 hit dropkick death, shovel/nunchuks, boomerang launch, this physics "trick" have valid reasons to complain about it.
Likewise, you have to understand that I have valid reasons to complain about them complaining and/or to defend what they are complaining about. You don't think my reasons are valid?
You find it fun? Epic, they don't though. This has nothing to do with being good at the game. This is directly related to community and player base retention, and their involvement with the game. Numbers will indeed speak in there, and from the looks of it, those are becoming largely discussed hot- topics.
That's what discussion is for. I'm not the only person who found it fun. l suggested this was a great new discovered mechanic and deserves to get its own game mode (Basketball), and Allistervf agreed. I'm NOT the only one that finds it fun. If you look at the comments on the video and also the guy who made the video, they OBVIOUSLY FIND IT FUN.
Am I just supposed to pretend it's not fun to please people who can't find the joy in things that... seem pretty joyful?
Because they don't find things fun I have to pretend it's not fun? Honestly if you can't find fun in tossing a FOOTBALL across a FOOTBALL FIELD in a cute animal game... I don't know what to say. I'm not even a sports guy. Like, I don't even really like football, BUT I LIKE THIS FOOTBALL.
I recommend that there be a section of the tutorial added for it, or at least a tip added for it. And I agreed that the Trebuchet could be slightly tuned to ignite the bombs only from the Trebuchet, and not from being thrown.
What more do you guys want? Is there some other map that this would break?
It wouldn't break football. It would add to the passing mechanic. Someone has to be on the other side of the goal touching the ball in order for it to work. It would just add more strategy.
If there is another game mode that it would break, please say so, and we can talk about it like we did with Trebuchet. We came to a good compromise with Trebuchet. I fully agreed with making it so the bombs only ignite from the Trebuchet. Not sure why you guys still have a problem with it or with me.
If many people complain about the same thing over and over, there's a good chance there's something not right in there, something that takes away from many people's enjoyment of the game. That could always be improved in one way or another, not removed, not nerfed, not completely changed.
I hope you realize I wasn't the only person defending nunchucks and shovels. There were many others jumping in and defending them, or liking my posts when I defended them. I was also speaking on their behalf. Do you want all of us to just shut up so that you guys get what you want? That seems kind of selfish to me.
Even if it is an intended design decision, people may and will complain about it if they don't find it fun. This board is created to challenge the game's design choices.
Fine, but you should be more open to disagreement when you come on the board to complain about a game mechanic. There's nothing wrong with disagreement. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Forgive me if I don't want my treasure to be marked as trash.
You're way ahead of me. Football and Buzz-Ball are exactly the two other modes I can name. "Works splendidly" is a subjective statement, yes.
As I stated, this just adds to the passing element and additional strategy with these game modes. It's not difficult to pull off. Yes that's my opinion, just like your OPINION is that it is difficult enough to pull off to call me a hypocrite like you've all been trying to do earlier. Again, people in this thread have been treating me like shit in this thread, and I am kind of sick of it.
You mean "cute chubby wobbly flappy animal blobs". Default throwing is just fine and doesn't require any boosting beyond what's intended. There are cases that are directly communicated to the player such as "you will launch a two-handed weapon farther if you release it when swinging", which is an obviously intended game mechanic with a tradeoff.
And the same concept applies to items but requires you to spin around to increase the momentum and pressing throw instead. That, and not precise-timing-dropkicking the item released during the throw.
Those are your opinions, and you're entitled to them. I disagree with them, and I feel as though I and others who disagree with your opinions should be entitled to disagree.
This game is far from the actual laws of physics. I can't take that and "real life" arguments seriously.
The argument I made there was very simple. If you're honestly trying to feign ignorance on the points I made, it's not a good look for you. Regardless of how close this game is to actual laws of physics, this is pretty cut and dry.
Using additional torque to gain further leverage on a throw is something that can easily happen according to the laws of physics that are common between this game and real life.
The same can not be said for boomerang-broomsticks. No matter how you slice it. Problem is you don't want to even try to slice it, you just want to ignore my point, by saying
"BLAH BLAH PHYSICS SHMYSICS CUTE ANIMALS PHYSICS IS NUTTIN' LIKE REAL LIFE PHYSICS SO YOUR POINT IS MOOOOOOT."
Please.
They said they could easily patch it for Trebuchet (making the entire "trick" absolutely useless), but that doesn't automatically support the right to its existence. It was just them brainstorming a solution for the map they discovered the trick on.
If they patched Trebuchet, then the main argument as to why the mechanic would need to be patched would be null and void, because it wouldn't affect Trebuchet.
Always thought Buzz-Ball is that analogue/replacement for Basketball, exactly because there is no simple way to make basketball work with the default game mechanics, so they put the "hoops" as high as possible for standard throws.
Fair point. With that said, I think the new throw mechanic will work marvelously well with buzz-ball. Again, it adds new levels of gameplay. I have a feeling you and others want to call me hypocrite (and other ad-hominems) again. Whatever.
I will say that personally, I love how this change affects Trebuchet. I know you and others don't care about my opinion, but I should be able to say it.
I like that it takes some extra concentration to make sure you're throwing straight and not to the side a little bit. I like how it provides a direct interface with other animals trying to do the same thing. I like that there is an element of strategy where one might benefit from putting some bombs in the trebuchet and throwing other bombs.
I like that the whole thing is absurd and ridiculous. I think it's hilarious that these cute little animals can show such upper body strength!! It definitely adds to my enjoyment of the game.
