It would be nice to have some ghost roles. A lot of the time when someone dies early in the game they end up leaving and make matchmaking a bit more of a hurdle. Allow me to cook up an idea for the ghost roles to give eliminated players more incentive to stick around.
🗣Role name: Whispers
Team: Ghost Role (maybe only for goodies ghosts though)
Core Ability: Psychic Ping
Notes about Core Ability:
Whispers can highlight a suspicious player to a living Goodie once every so often. When activated, Whispers chooses a player, and a faint aura appears around them only for one living Goodie of the Whispers choice. That Goodie sees the aura for 10 seconds — it’s up to them to interpret what it means.
Effect and Cooldown Time: Target is outlined in soft red (or blue, if Whispers thinks they’re a Goodie), visible to one Goodie for 10 seconds with a 35 second cool down.
Unique Interaction:
If the highlighted player is voted out within 20 seconds of the aura ending, and they are a Killer, Whispers gains a second charge immediately. This rewards well-timed psychic instincts and coordination.
Play Style Impact:
Turns the ghost phase into an active mind-game. Whispers adds a light social deduction aspect without hard-confirming the accussed roles. It makes one Goodie more paranoid — or more confident — depending on who’s outlined.
Counterplay:
Disinformation: Killers can behave erratically or "suspiciously" to bait a bad ping from Whispers and waste the aura.
Ignore the aura: Players can choose not to trust the aura, especially if they think the ghost was a chaotic or uninformed teammate.
Lone Killers: Play away from others to reduce chances of being observed and picked out by a sharp ghost.
Force confusion: Multiple players clumping can make it hard for Whispers to choose the right target.
