Spamming and distance:
I just tested with a second controller to see if spamming punch vs. pressing slower/holding the button made a difference in how fast you knock someone out and it doesn't, but distance does. So if you're really close to someone your fist are more likely to miss the head and brush by the ears, so spamming too close you're less likely to knock them out than if your arms have more range to move and connect with their head. Keep them at arms length if get what I mean. It's much better not to spam though unless you have to, but if your stuck-in-close a headbutt may be preferable.
Heavy Punch/Jump Kick:
It's better to do heavy punches and jump kicks and avoid spamming, I almost never let go of the run button unless I have to conserve stamina for team games. For Heavy punches you want to be walking/facing towards them before you punch because trying to land one as you turn around is very difficult. If you can't turn around cause someones very close trying to heavy punch you use a jump kick instead because you can aim it no matter which direction you're facing, i.e. quickly hold in their direction, backwards of your current direction and shoot off a fast jump kick.
Regular Kicking:
Most people seem to forget it exist because its hard to see. Sometimes you got someone knocked out really close to an edge and don't have enough time to pick them up and toss them before they wake up. You're often safer doing a kick instead of trying to lift them, It's hard to see cause the animals little stumpy legs but you can do a non-jump kick and send them off into the gray.
Weapons and Countering them:
When someone has a weapon that instant ko's you lure them in a straight line towards you and run straight at them and do a jump kick. Weapons are powerful but leave you vulnerable. In a last stand where the weapon wielder thinks they are safe if they spam attack they will almost always lose to a well aimed jump kick, followed by tossing them off into the gray. Also weapons that do a spin attack have a cooldown where you can land a heavy punch if you time it right, but a jump kick is safer to use. If they're using a shooting weapon it's better to just run behind them and heavy punch instead of jump kicking. It's a lot harder for them to hit you with the projectile than it is for you to punch them and you can stay in close as they can't punch back unless they drop the weapon. Speaking of dropping weapons you can sit over someone and just keep spamming it to knock them out again once they get up, but if you're in a 1v1 knock them out and quickly drop the weapon and toss them into the gray, in other words don't become dependent on the weapon to win. Anyone that knows how to counter it will the moment they get up if your weapon spam misses. If someone is a weapon hog I'll knock them out with a jump kick then throw their weapon out of the arena just to mess with them. 😜 Nunchucks are the most overpowered weapon in the game, because it's a guaranteed knockout like other weapons but it attacks much faster. Don't sleep on the boomerang, pick it up and toss it like you would a person and it's great for knocking out weapon wielders from mid range.
Tutorial Sparring practice and Bots:
Don't forget there's a tutorial alligator you can go spar with to practice and he'll get up indefinitely so long as you don't knock/throw him out of the ring. He's just as aggressive as most players so it's good practice, you can also set bots to play against in custom game by pressing the little pumpkin-esque robot icon with a + next to it. I'd suggest getting 3 stars on the tutorial as it will give you an advantage when playing against players that haven't, well atleast against newer players. Tip you can just stand on the pressure pads instead of bringing over the box to open the doors.
Avoid crowds when fighting if they're near a place you can be thrown off the level, let them whittle themselves down while you fight 1v1's.
Don't forget you can still attack while holding onto to something, that includes climbing too. Headbutts if they're right next to and level with you and kicks if they're below you.
Level Tips and Tricks:
On Typhoon you can just jump up the first bit of the submarine conning tower, this saves you from having to climb it and gives you the advantage of the high ground by getting up there faster. Since you can stand there you can also fight there and climbers are easy targets because they can't stand up until they get near the crease between the two layers of the submarine conning tower. When you're at the top of the tower and the water is close, if someone is climbing up stand right in front of them and kick, if they're almost about to get to standing position use a few headbutts.
On Wind Tunnel You can easily climb back into the arena if the wind hasn't started, but even better you can just do a jump kick to get back in faster without the risk of being knocked off while climbing. Let other people pull the the levers for the wind guards, it's a perfect time to knock them out and throw them off right as the wind picks up, just don't walk to far away from the wind guards or you're going with them. Also throw them fast because if they wake up they can hold onto you and bring you with them.
On Blackhole Lab always wait for the bomb throwable, if you throw it at a group of people usually at the chain right before gravity lifts them up the bomb will float near them and you can take out 3 or more people to help your teammate out. You can drag the chain as it's on a rail. Use that to keep it away from someone that's almost but not quite close enough to grab it, but watch your stamina so you don't lose grip. When you first hear the blackhole forming you have about 8 seconds before the gravity shifts to grab something, plenty of time to get in a few punches. The last wave can only be cleared by holding the chain as even the large containers get sucked inward. You can just jump kick off a falling box to get back to the outer ring but you have to be lucky or an RGB Ninja Bunny I once played with that did it 3 times in 1 game.
On Fluffy Redemption start off the match with two rolls forward and run then jump over to the other teams train platform from yours (if you're having a problem just run jumping the gap do a jump kick for more distance), quickly grab their brake lever and pull it back. If you're fast they sometimes don't even notice you're not on their team. Speaking of which whenever I'm picking an animal to play Fluffy Redemption I always chose the same animal and outfit as other people because often you'll end up on opposite teams but you look like their teammate so other than your name color you're basically camouflaged until they notice. I've went nearly whole games without people noticing I wasn't their team member, even though I just sat there pulling their brake. The brake wins the game 90% of the time. After you slowed them down a bit go back to grab their coal and toss it off the train, to add insult to injury. 😈
On Beast Football and Buzz ball as you carry the ball your stamina drains very fast and you're vulnerable to attacks from behind, toss the ball at the direction you're running to move it faster and conserve stamina. Follow the toss up with one or two rolls to get back to the ball quickly. If you're close to the end zone just carry it instead because if you toss it when you're a few feet away it can be yoinked, plus you have to be holding the ball for the touchdown to register. You can get a goal on buzz ball from farther away than you think, if you're about to fumble it or get knocked out just aim, run and toss it.
I hope this helps someone that's struggling, frustrated and not having fun. 🙂 That's all I can think of for now.
