In Ice Hockey, both gates don't have nets on the sides. Think that doesn't matter? THINK AGAIN!
You can seriously mess up some goalies/players if you throw them in there or take the shield and throw it in there. It takes a bit of time to get out because you have to climb or get lucky with jumps (or use "techniques"). This can have a big impact on the game if you succeed at throwing. The only reason I could think of as to why this wasn't netted is exactly for this sort of tomfoolery.
Also, I only found this out cause of Igor, but you can actually go behind the gate and even climb it lol (but it's surrounded by invisible collision walls.
