Give us the option to disable profanity and block people we don't want to hear from. Implement a profanity filter so the disable profanity button works.
Do NOT start banning people based off profanity/racism/hate speech/intolerance/etc.
Honestly, people need to understand that they just won't get along with some people. In addition, we keep shifting the line on what is designated as "hate speech," which is a subjective standard based on culture. This varies from place-place, country-country. If someone provided money to support the game, their account should only be banned due to damaging intellectual property.... not because of something they said.
No, I don't want Party Animals to turn into a cesspool of messed up language, but I also think others who argue for censorship typically overexaggerate the problem.
If anything, stick to "muting" or removing chat functionality for people who attempt to purposefully circumvent the text ban. If people are straight up HARASSING another player, for example, following them to another lobby or sending them private messages after the game is over, then additional action should be taken, as it would in real life when you intentionally harass someone. But if someone is talking trash in a lobby and you are not interested in participating, just mute them. The player has the power to do that. Some people joke around differently than others. If you don't like how someone is talking to you, just mute them. If you define an individual's behavior as "hateful," then just block them.
This world is full of unpleasant people, and I fail to see how being intolerant towards others you disagree with is considered "tolerant." Also, "what if" the person you wanna get banned were to just arbitrarily decide that something you said was 'unacceptable' and you received a player ban for it because they found it offensive? That's essentially what you're arguing for: it goes both ways.
Once upon a time, a player-ban meant you hacked the game by introducing malicious code or posed a legitimate threat to someone's life. Sometimes by telling someone to KYS. Where have we gone so wrong that the immediate 'gut' reaction is to ban people?
No, people need thicker skin and they need to learn how to deal with people, even if that means just blocking the person and moving-on. Do not ban people under speech.
