🐊 Happy World Crocodile Day!

Did you know that the phrase "crocodile tears" is actually a huge misunderstanding?
Though it's true that crocodiles sometimes shed tears while eating, it's not out of sadness or fake sympathy. It's pure biology!
Scientists have found that when crocodiles bite and swallow their prey, powerful airflow is forced into their sinuses, stimulating the tear glands. These tears also serve as natural eye drops to keep their eyes clean and moist during long stays on dry land. For certain species, crying even helps flush out excess salt from their bodies. Talk about a misunderstood reptile!
