Igor I won't get into it too much here as we've got a separate thread for optimisation (and I've moaned a lot there already), but ... while I don't expect current-gen gaming PC performance, I think optimisation has to be possible, especially on the Series X. While the game doesn't run quite as smoothly on my Steam Deck when compared to the Xbox (and I have to reduce some of the quality settings), it just feels a lot better. I also perform so much better on the Steam Deck. It's very hard for me to articulate the feeling though. It's a strange one.
I just know that I land so many more punches on the Steam Deck. I can go an hour on the Xbox sometimes before I'm able to land a single heavy punch, for instance, while on the Steam Deck I'm landing them 8/10 times I make an attempt. It just feels very different to me.
The Series X is also more powerful than the Steam Deck. I'd even settle for options to reduce the graphical quality on the Xbox if it would help. I could play it on the Steam Deck more of course, I just prefer playing it on Xbox as that's where I've invested most of my time and made some purchases. The Steam Deck is just to get a "fix" if I'm away.
The codebase between the Xbox and PC seems to be a little different. For instance, on the voting screen, when you vote for a map there's a little tick next to your choice (which is actually very useful). This is absent on the Xbox. That makes me wonder if there are other, more important, differences with the Xbox vs PC. Not sure I understand why though - the Xbox is just a PC. BUT, this game is a lot more complex than it first appears, so I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason.
@UnseenMind That's an interesting point, that maybe they didn't want to make them too accurate. It doesn't explain throwables not even appearing on the screen sometimes, but hyper-accurate throwables would make the end stage of Typhoon very difficult indeed!
