@Igor You've already got a thread about the love. That's the one called "Do not ban..." Stop trying to deflect your own roasting!
@Cedar_Z, you’ve been here, what, 5 days, made 10 posts, and already you’re talking about banning people and (I believe) you even called me a tryhard in the nunchuck thread, making a number of incorrect assumptions about me also.
Now, about that. It wasn’t 100% clear whether you were indeed calling me that. If you were not calling me a tryhard who uses nunchucks to win every match because he’s not a great player, then you can stop reading now because this doesn’t apply.
However, if you find yourself still reading…
I gave a perfectly measured, sensible, and friendly response to your concerns. Hell, I even agreed with some of your points. However, you then went on to assume I was a) a tryhard, b) that I would use nunchucks to win constantly myself because I’m not a great player (I’m not - you got that bit right), and c) I think you’re a whiner for your thread about the nunchucks.
Before I joined this forum I spent over a month reading it, getting a feel for the people on it. I joined when I felt I had something to offer to the developers, the game, and the community (others may disagree with my contributions so far, and that’s okay). I’ve been here for less than 2 weeks myself.
If you’d made any effort whatsoever to do something similar, then you’d know that I’m none of those things you assumed. This can be a savage forum at times, but I like to think that I’m one of the friendliest people on here. I’m not the only friendly person of course, there are many, but I do make an effort to see things from the other side even if I personally don’t agree. I’m also open to having my opinion changed by others - which has happened a number of times already.
You, however, come wading in, making assumptions about others, unhappy with anyone who disagrees with you, and only a few days in are talking about getting people banned.
You don’t need to agree with the way everyone acts or the things they say. That’s fine. I don’t agree with everything people say or do on here, but if you’re not going to learn more about people first, there’s a way of responding without making assumptions about them. Ask more questions and see how the discussion evolves before basing your conclusion on a single (friendly and measured) response.
I’m not a great player. I lose more than I win, but to be honest, I don’t mind losing if people play fair and I’ve had a good and fun fight. I don’t have to win every match. I just enjoy the ride mostly. I told you this in the other thread, but you ignored it and assumed I was a tryhard who’d use nunchucks to win constantly, when in fact you went on to say that you do exactly this thing yourself. The only positive thing I would take from that comment is that you then went on to say that you don’t like doing that. The fact that you would do it though suggests that we are different, and I'm not trying to win at all costs. That would make me less of a tryhard, surely?
I’ve got very clear views on nunchucks and I’m very careful how I use them. I won’t edge guard, spawn-camp, or do anything like that just to win because I personally feel it’s a dirty thing to do. I’ve been known to drop the nunchucks and just go hand-to-hand because I want a more fair fight (usually at the cost of my own death). A number of us on here have already had some discussions around the ethics of what it is to be an honourable player in this game. Not everyone cares about that, and that’s fine because we’re all different, but it’s still an interesting discussion.
My advice to you, and you can of course choose to ignore it, would be to start contributing (I see you’ve already begun with your thread about the Background Characters, which is great), have discussions with those that are already here, get to know them better and then decide who you think they are, what their morals are, and whether you like them or not.
I'm fairly new here too, but I treat people with the respect they deserve, I engage, discuss, and make an effort to get to know them before casting any kind of judgement. I suggest you try and do the same. I started this way and I'll continue this way.
That's pretty much all I've got to say on this. I'm certainly too old to want to argue this further. A dinosaur, you might say, which was another of your comments that was levelled at both myself and @Igor I believe. If anyone's a dinosaur, that'll be me. Not Igor!
