How are y'all feeling about the changes made to Castleween—yay or nay? Imo it makes me like the map a lot more and helps it stand out more from ichiban
Castleween Changes
What all did they change? It's shown up so infrequently for me the past 2 nights that I only got to play it once and I can't remember anything seeming different.

Nullstrukt Change log 1.2.2.0
Experience optimization
- Increase the probability of the [Midnight Castle] map appearing in quick games
- Reduced the difficulty of the weekly task "Use a baseball bat to stun the enemy 15 times" to "Use a baseball bat to stun the enemy 3 times"
- If the player has already "stunned the enemy 3 times with a baseball bat", he needs to stun the enemy once more to complete the task. There may be text errors in the weekly task progress (does not affect actual completion)
- Update the map mechanism of [Midnight Castle]: the overall map will be darker, and players’ names will only be displayed in places illuminated by lights.
They also added these lanterns to use in castleween (ig they changed the name to midnight castle)
UnseenMind Oh nice! Definitely hadn't seen this yet. Looking forward to seeing it in action (hiding the player names is an interesting touch for sure).
I would certainly recommend not using a ghost skin, You stick out like a sore thumb
I've taken to using darker characters though and I have a blast!
xDoubleClutchx Even though it has the same standing out problem, the RGB Carrot is fun to use (makes me think of going to a rave or something, lol). Tried it once, definitely got targeted because everyone could see me, A++ would do again.

Nullstrukt Ori is really good to use too xD
When were these changes made? I played castleween multiple times yesterday and it didn’t seem darker, it actually seemed lighter
fun
Today midnight castle map some updates, played two or three games, talk about my experience:
Overall, I personally found it more interesting than before.
A new electric light, not a weapon, is a lighting prop, pick up or hold it will light for a period of time, light for a period of time will slowly extinguish.
It is continuous, and as soon as one disappears, one is created, and sometimes two.
You can carry it around the room, or you can drop it to illuminate a certain spot.
Proper use can help you see the enemy and other weapons, But you can also use it as a weapon, pick it up and throw it at someone and knock them out (I knocked several people out tonight).
Personal feeling, such a change, this map is more distinctive, no longer a simple chaos, and other maps are more distinguishable.
Moreover, this time to reduce the brightness, and hide the ID, is to encourage everyone to "in the dark", "hide and seek" feeling, of course, there must be more “old six” hiding, at this time you can use the lamp to let them show their true shape!
For me this kind of players do not want high intensity competition, feel very good, can hide for a while, play for a while, the feeling of guerrilla warfare, quite good.
The only thing that diminishes the experience is that the people who are eliminated can't see anything. If you can replace the off-field props with lights to help the players on the field find the hidden "old six", it is even better.
From Chinese players, with translator translation, if not smooth, please forgive me.
SmartisanVae well said
So I guess Xbox players won't see this update until Sunday or Monday then? Also, it makes sense to call it Midnight Castle so it won't feel explicitly tied to Halloween.
RxPhantom The update is out on xcloud—try restarting your xbox or updating party animals.
UnseenMind
The forums were full of deals and there was very little discussion of the game itself, so I came to the international forum to comment.
Not gonna lie, I had a bad impression reading the patch notes, but it's pretty ok in the game. As @SmartisanVae has summed up quite nicely.
Obviously, already meta:
People pick dark skins so it's harder to see them. This is sort of a penalty for their teammate too, however. Same as bright skins are easy to see for team and your enemies both. I consider these fair tradeoffs.
Left part of the castle, inner wall (I think the entire inner wall counts) - you can hang in there and there is no way spectators can see it (no camera angle for the inner wall) if you are using a dark skin. I consider these fun shenanigans to a degree + people eventually realize something is going on and try to adapt.
Now with these darkness/light additions, it becomes a pretty specific-thematic map. While I still like it, I probably wouldn't play it as often as its previous version.
