So here's what the fishing rod actually does:

ROD - Larger fish variety per rod. Better rod, unlocks more fish (plus the weight of fish)
BAIT & HOOK - How much faster you can get a fish on the line (more fish in less time)
REEL & LINE - Makes it "easier" to catch fish, basically success rate.

If you cant get the fish you wanna catch, you might need a better rod for you to get into that new set of fish.

vile_Terrier not the highest for sure, guy that I fish with caught one of them big legendary fish and it was worth 300+. I forgot what's the name of it but it's a large and colourful fish.

M4Y4D3R3 in my case it's always random, I keep catching fish/things at the spots that are not in the description.

HabaBaba The “catching spots” are the places it’s more likely to catch them, it doesn’t affect where your favorite fishing spot is. I caught two or three glacial sturgeons at the dock in broad daylight even though that’s not where they’re usually found. It’s just a suggestion in case you want to catch fish faster and fill up your book before the event leaves

Is it me or everyone? I feel like the bit rate for legendary fish is getting lower day by day which makes this game become boring =((((((((( Can mod do something?

LuckyWong they just added a post about this stating that they haven't changed a thing ...
I still can't believe that. Honeycomb nowadays gets me like 12-14 standards, few uncommons and rares and maybe one or two (if that) legendaries/epics. I get better fish with mushrooms or acorns even tho they're cheaper and worst baits. It wasn't like that before and it's just frustrating and boring now. I've got the best rod with the best attachments and the best bait, get I keep getting standards at every spot on the map.

LuckyWong I havent played in a couple weeks but I played 2 days ago. I caught about 5 or 6 legendary fish in 2 buckets. The best odds I've ever had. I also got some other fish like an eel and some other fish I've never got before that weren't legendary. If anything I'd argue odds have gone up in our favour

HabaBaba I used to get a bunch of standards even with the honeycomb and jade rod. I changed my fishing location and now I think it may depend on the location where you fish. I'm fishing near the shipwreck now and it's getting me lots of epic tier fish.

Does it make sense to buy golden tide? Or why is it needed at all if the event is almost over?

DzR-ALF don't waste your cookies, Jade rod is the same and looks better.
