Hey everyone! We've seen ongoing concerns about how the game's physics feels, and I wanted to provide some clarity on why we haven't responded again until now.
We've already shared a few responses regarding the physics system in the past, and we don't want to risk repeating the same explanations over and over, especially if they're no longer helpful.
That said, we hear your recent feedback, and we're opening up this message now to invite more specific feedback and data and explore changes going forward.
What changes were actually made?
Since launch, there have been very few direct adjustments to the physics system that stuck:
- A short invincibility window when getting up
- Some restrictions on very extreme macro-able inputs
- Minor climbing improvements (to make it easier to climb)
Most other macro-prevention related changes in the past have already been reverted to their original state. After analyzing many of the videos and logs sent to us, we believe that much of what players are experiencing may be due to inherent randomness in the physics engine, not necessarily a bug or unintended change.
That's part of why it's been so hard for us to respond to every comment. Without clear data supporting that there is an issue, it's difficult to know what's actually going wrong, and what’s just the result of expected physics variance.
What we're asking now:
If you've experienced a physics interaction that feels broken or unnatural, please post it here in the comments. We'll take time to look into these reports, to further review if something really is off.
Please include:
- A short video showing the exact moment or interaction.
- (Optional) A log file of the match, which further helps us pinpoint the issue (you may choose to email your log file to contact@recreate.games).
Through analyzing the data provided, this helps us better explain which situations are expected physics behavior, and which ones may not be. With that, we can better clarify what to expect from the game's physics, and if something feels consistently off even if it's technically working, we'll know that it may still need adjustment.
Without this kind of evidence, it's very difficult for us to properly judge what needs fixing. We really appreciate everyone who takes the time to share videos or logs!
Regarding the upside-down climbing issue (e.g. Ring of Garfat map):
We've partially identified what's causing this. It seems to occur when a character switches out of swimming mode into climbing mode. We've already made some adjustments recently to fix this, but it seems many of you are still experiencing it. Please send in any videos you have of this issue as well!
Thanks again for your help and understanding!
